Birth of Baby Mia 1st Day of Spring

Thinking that I would have 2-3 weeks of relaxation, catching up with girlfriends and spending time with Grandma to be....to my surprised on the 1st day of spring, Babette decided to come early.

Lucky for us, PC and I attended Part 1 of our 2 day birth class on the Saturday (27 Aug)
The day before 1st of Sept, Mum and I got a mani and a pedi, bought an outfit to wear for the birthing process as wanted to look more or less respectable..in hindsight that was a complete waste of time and money....

The day of events we're as follows:
9 am - small sign of water breakage (state of mind was, no cause for alarm as same thing happened abt 1 mth ago)
12:30 pm Made my way upstairs to start my day to buy baby seat, to my shock - bigger sign of water breaking
2:00 pm drove self to hospital with Mum by my side
2:30 pm - met PC at hospital (state of mind was still happy, as no contractions yet and was convinced I would be sent home)
4:00pm - contractions started ;at this point I requested epidural at first opportunity
7:30 pm - wheeled into birthing suite at which I was in immense pain never felt anything like it
7:45 pm - was told epidural was not going to happen as babette was coming too fast , to my dismay I reached out to Anaethesist and said " NOOOOOOOO"
8:55 pm - Baby Mia was born with no pain relief weighting in at 2.78 kg, 48 cm with a good set of lungs; my first words to OB was "next time caesar"

Here's a picture of the happy new family.

Next is a new link to follow Mia's progress

....she was such a wonderful gift for fathers day and my own birthday...she truly is a little miracle...

Week 34 - PART 2 FTB

Greetings,

Cherished last moments of motorbiking
freedom for FTB before BABETTE arrives....PC...enjoy it cos that bikewill go into semi - retirement shortly....

This weekend we also dined at RED LANTERN for an early birthday celebration with Jenn and Nadine...every yr the three of us celebrate our birthdays together which I am sure will continue in tradition in the years to come. We managed to have a brush with celebritism...ie Chef Mark Jensen came out and took a picture with us...the food was excellent!

Also, on Sunday PC and I took part in Kei's Kitchen Kaiseki Cooking class which was totally awesome. Here are some pics we took with Kei..

Babette
is getting her early feed of assorted meals and we are trying to get out as much as possible before we go into late nite feeds and deprived sleep days..

Had a great weekend and look foward to more feasting over the next 5 weeks or so.....

Week 34 - Shes real in Black and White

Quick update,
Thought today deserved a BLOG entry. Came back from my fortnightly visit to OB - all appears well , however was still concerned a little on BABETTE'S size. So, to put our minds at ease, OB said lets do a scan.

So - here are the results!
Facial Frontal

Side Profile
She's progressing well weighing currently at 2 kgs. Further speculation from Sonographer advises possible due date is in fact approximately 1 week later than expected. So - will reconfirm with OB in a fortnight.

Either way - things are progressing well - got the airconditiong unit installed in nursery so one less thing to worry abt.

Enjoy the pic's

Week 33 Part 2 - Snack Run

Hi de ho!

Another snippet in the countdown to Babette's arrival, have not slept well at all this week.
About 3 nights ago I sent Paul down for a snack-run around 12.30 AM...he was semi-conscious when I said"Honey..can you get me some of those balls I made....the cornbeef ones.."....as he staggered down the stairs , he was quick and back in a flash ...in his hands he had 2 Crochet balls !!! I replied "What am I gonna do with those!!! I can't eat those!!!! ...I was in stitches with laughter for a good 5 minutes clutching baby belly. He soon arrived back with the infamous "Nana's Cheese Puffs" (courtesy of the Flannery's) all nice and heated.

He explains later, as I am suffering from Carpal tunnel , he thought I was going to use them as stress balls to clench with...yeh yeh....he just thinks I'm getting tooo fat!!!

Here are those lovely cheese puffs:

This week we also celebrated Paul's Birthday at "The Boathouse on Black Wattle Bay".
Had some gorgeous oysters and snapper pie..followed by scrumptious Apple Tart.
Here are some pics to make you drool.....
We will have a second celebration with Damo to celebrate his B'day also...gearing up for Chilli Crab!! Can't wait..will post more pics.

XOXOXO

Week 32 PART 2

Hi
Quick update, visited OB yesterday. BABETTE is well, although Im 32 weeks, her little size is one of a 30 week old..no cause for alarm, head approx 30 cm . OB thinks she will deliver around 7 pd or high 6's which is about 3 kgs. So, hopefully it will make easier for a bearable delivery.

Im struggling with the 100 ball challenge, up to 35 now. Also, experiencing pins and needles in left hand, apparently I have typical carpal tunnel which is common for pregnant women. O well....it's a temporary condition so I shld be OK post birth (cross fingers).

This weekend- hopefully we will organise rooms so next post may be a nursery view.
Thanks everyone for your comments in WK 32 !!

Bye for now.

Week 32 - 100 ball challenge

Hi All,
Its been a while between posts. Have been busy being a domestic goddess...what you say?
Making 100% cotton basinette sheets and mini cushions...will post up in next blog entry.

I've also given myself a 100 ball challenge...i.e to make 100 crochet balls by the time BABETTE enters the world...wish me luck. Here is the first 25 :

Also - I dabbled into some amiragumi - I did these for fun for my Brother in law..
However I do find these troublesome..so I don't think I will do many more of these. Do you recognise the guys?
OK...well how am I doing...well BABETTE is kicking several times a day and keeping MTB awake at night. I'm also having weird dreams about running in the forest and jumping over trees..a bit "TWILIGHT" without Robert Pattinson to my dismay... I have heard at times Mothers experience weird dreams...bizarre.

DTB and me are slowly working out room re-organisation for the nursery- we have pretty much the std stock items and will slowly get the rest in good time. We are very excited and realising the names list is becoming a very important items on the "TO DO LIST"...we will get there I am sure.

Here is a pic of me - at 32 Weeks....waist is 103 cm (not sure if that's big or small....either way...I'm very pregnant and still can't believe Ive made it this far - god bless her little socks !)
Pls feel free to leave a comment guys as I intend to print a BLOG book so Babette can look back and have a nice read....when she finally meets you she can say ..Oh is that what Aunty XX looks like ??(You get the picture)

Thanks all....till next post.

Week 27 - More Beanie Models

Hi All,
This week has been a sleepless one..up at all hours of the nite staring at the ceiling and feeling bub moving around. Looks like I'm getting into training for the mths ahead...o no. Also, good news this week - had glucose intolerance test , results came back and I don't have gestational diabetes!!! seriously thought I was a sitting duck for it with diabetes running through the family....but phew..rest assure I can continue drinking my coke, lindt chocolate and vanilla bean ice cream...YUM!! ..don't worry...in moderation of course.

Also, the past couple weeks I've found more beanie models .
Sophie (my Niece/god daughter)
Tiarna - niece
Elita - best sis in law
Amelia Rose - Nadines little one
Lorrie(Mummy) & Sara(cutie-pie) - good friends

Well, off to see OB next week. I was suppose to see him this week - but pregnant brain got the weeks mixed up when I was embarrassingly asked by the Doc's assistant.."Are you running late or did you just forget"..to my horror I thought it was next week...yikes....a very apologetic MTB i was.

Babette is kicking and swirling around ...PC is well too, trying to listen to her heartbeat but can only hear swooshing in my belly... o well...

Till next time.....Bye for now..

19 Weeks PART TWO - Bump at 19 weeks & Mini 4D movie

Well we past the 19 week scan and all is well...good vitals..BUB heartbeat is 146bpm ..see for yourself dvd scan...just a couple minutes of footage where you'll see feet, hands, legs ...with some 4D scan views as well as the usual 2D.

The session was abt 40 mins, the dvd scanner didn't work during the session..the little one gave us a bit of a wave which was a very special moment..adorable teeny thing......we ended up doing another short scan after the metric session to get the footage..take a look..

OK...so the news is...is it a GIRL or a BOY.......
Chinese predictor calculator said
BOY
Ring predictor test said BOY
Web predictor test said GIRL
Mom-to-be (MTB) and Dad-to-be (DTB) thought BOY as well....

Well the VERDICT IS
GIRL..!!!! We were so getting use to thinking we would have a boy...so it was a nice suprise...sorry for those who hold out for a 9 mth surprise..but we just couldn't wait...

To mark the occassion I bought her first outfit today ...no turning back now and it all seems more real too.... very happy MTB and DTB

19 Weeks PART ONE - Suspicions of Boybette

A quick entry today...went for 4 wkly check up with OB today..good news ..BUB heart beat sounds healthy and all going to plan so far. Still not eating mountains of food..and no major cravings....but surprisingly not craving any real junk.. been trying to be good and exercising daily for the past week for a mere 30 mins....better than nothing.

Tomorrow will go for our 19 week 3D scan...the anticipation is kinda wearing me down..mind you for the past week, been having late night conference calls for work...so as a corporate slave I am keeping busy.. ..will update blog tomorrow on any exciting news. If we have no good news...this blog will be "binned"...not to be morbid here..but its probably every mother's worry till that day little BUB enters the world..

OK. Will post some pics tomorrow...wish us luck!..better get something to eat and feed me and the bub.....its 8 PM and PC is doing another late nite

PS: I got a feeling its gonna be a boy...hmm....

15 Weeks - Scan @ 15 Weeks

Just had 15 week Scan with Paul (Doc Paul Mysterysurname)..he's so easy going he let's his patients call him by his first name...(o how privileged!)..anyone looking for an OB..he is high on the recommendation list as his bedside manner is incredibly fantastic. I was astounded while he flicked through his little book which diarised 1700 or so deliveries he had done...he said he had another full bag back at the clinic... I feel I'm in good hands .....experience makes a huge difference.....Another reason why I will travel 25 minutes away from home to have bub where he delivers as opposed to 5 minutes up the road to the private hospital (which is behind our house through the forest and trees) ......(sorry Paul and Mum...you will have to travel a but further to see us when the time comes) . OK OK....enough abt Doc P........back to the star of the blog...bub........first time hearing the heartbeat...wow!!! sounds like something from Star Wars, Darth Vader sounding ......through the microscope....but truely music to my ears.....smiles all around everyone. Then did the routine scan - not such a good pic this time.....but all seems healthy despite my 20 min walk from work to the hospital in 31 degree heat...unusually humid in Syd that day.

Am I looking pregnant you ask? No.....stilll no major bump formation and in fact Doc says I haven't even gained any weight since 4 weeks ago...not surprising since appetite has gone out the door..he says not to worry....also not to worry abt the dry hair and dry skin ...his recommendation was.."just use conditioner and moisturiser !!" ..with a big smile ..here I was worried about thyroid dysfunction after sharing horror stories with girlfriends...o well..time shall tell. I was thinking..when is this glowing skin and luscious hair suppose to glam my look!!!..but in fact past 2 days my skin is feeling rather smooth...hmm..maybe things are turning around.... Anyway...I need to take some figure shots soon to show the growing bump or lack of so you can share in the bump journey..... Till next update..enjoy the pic!

13 Weeks - Tassy trip

Things all good at the moment....just came back from Tasmania for Theresa's and Adam's wedding.....Theresa reckons the Gypsy painting she did for me bought good luck and waalah - little bump came into the world..(after 1 yr..hahaha) ..little gypsy will be transferred to nursery eventually.....

And of course..what is a trip without good food Fish Frenzy..best Fish n chips in Oz...and best pecan pie was to be had toooo...okay...
perhaps gained 250 gms due to the luscious food...ooh ah..till next time....XOXOXO

12 Weeks - Scan @ 12 Weeks

Its the 12th week , which means we are all on track with no issues (yet anyway).

Had Nuchal -transluency screening test on Monday and results for down syndrome we got were very low which was a relief. Tests for trisomy 13 and 18 we not so good, but still considered low. Had a chat to OB today who seemed not overly worrried, but made sure we understd that there are no guarantees the baby will be perfect..but emphasied the risk factor as "low".

We already knew, either way, since it took 3 yrs to get to this point...any further tests at this early stage may harm Bubs...so ....we have opted to cross our fingers and let the journey start for our little one, which we will love no matter what.

The scan showed a current size of around 5 cm - little Bub was not behaving well during scan..as Bub was tooooo interested at staring at the ultrasound device facing towards us with hands extended on both sides...quite adorable...a couple of prods to try get Bub to lie on its side for pic's proved to be futile..so Mum had to go out for a caffeine fix and sweet chocolate croissants to wake Bub up....Mum returned back to Ultrasound clinic..and Bub was well behaved and posed for some nice side shots to measure Nuchal fold.....love you Bub ..you did well!!! Pops unfortunately didnt get to see Bub move ..but he can share in the moment at 19 weeks....wowza...... may even get a DVD made...hoohah..Hollywood here we come...never too early for Hollywood babies?

Will start taking mthly side profiles of exterior soon ....need to get decent outfit to show off belly bulge. Perhaps off to shops tomorrow...love stretchy lycra gear at the moment..loveeee it.

Till next time.
XOXO

10 Weeks - Scan @ 10 Weeks

Scan number 3! Yes...little Bub is still happily blobbing around...good news after minor scare night before....PHEW!! Can breathe a little easily.. both PC and I relieved and a little more excited..
again...Bub has not shown any talent of "Photogenic Out-takes" ....(way too small)..maybe if I feed it more cheese it will smile more ..(heha)

XOXO

9 Weeks - 14 yrs PC& ME

Feeling anxious ,excited and apprehensive and curiously awtg second scan on the 19th Feb before we tell the world. Daily feeling nausea from 745am to 930am ...which is a good sign that Bubs is tracking to plan.

Appetite wise....no idea what to eat ..racking my brain as I crave nothing but agar-agar. Also every 2-3 days have total loss of energy and can rack up abt 5 hrs of sleep in the day time!!!! um-maa....not good cos all that hard work over the past few mths of healthy eating and exercising is slowly becoming a dream......... today I shall gather myself up to do a session on the eliptical trainer.

Also today is monumental as PC and I celebrate 14 yrs of being together ! Although licensed for 5 yrs... wow...doesn't feel like it. So have booked into WAQU tomorrow night - haven't told him yet but shld be a nice celebration if we are up for it. This is what feast we are in for..yum yumm!!

Till next blog entry - meanwhile I shall do my work out..wish me luck that I make it upstairs!

8 Weeks - First scan with beating heart

Is it true...here is the pic to confirm it......so...to have a biography of the start of the "life and times" of Bub..here is Scan number 1 at 8 weeks where we discovered a true beating little heart...!! Both Parent are feeling giddy with happiness..... (just a mere little blob at this stage...but on with the show)

XOXO
