Birth of Baby Mia 1st Day of Spring

Thinking that I would have 2-3 weeks of relaxation, catching up with girlfriends and spending time with Grandma to be....to my surprised on the 1st day of spring, Babette decided to come early.

Lucky for us, PC and I attended Part 1 of our 2 day birth class on the Saturday (27 Aug)
The day before 1st of Sept, Mum and I got a mani and a pedi, bought an outfit to wear for the birthing process as wanted to look more or less respectable..in hindsight that was a complete waste of time and money....

The day of events we're as follows:
9 am - small sign of water breakage (state of mind was, no cause for alarm as same thing happened abt 1 mth ago)
12:30 pm Made my way upstairs to start my day to buy baby seat, to my shock - bigger sign of water breaking
2:00 pm drove self to hospital with Mum by my side
2:30 pm - met PC at hospital (state of mind was still happy, as no contractions yet and was convinced I would be sent home)
4:00pm - contractions started ;at this point I requested epidural at first opportunity
7:30 pm - wheeled into birthing suite at which I was in immense pain never felt anything like it
7:45 pm - was told epidural was not going to happen as babette was coming too fast , to my dismay I reached out to Anaethesist and said " NOOOOOOOO"
8:55 pm - Baby Mia was born with no pain relief weighting in at 2.78 kg, 48 cm with a good set of lungs; my first words to OB was "next time caesar"

Here's a picture of the happy new family.

Next is a new link to follow Mia's progress

....she was such a wonderful gift for fathers day and my own birthday...she truly is a little miracle...

Week 34 - PART 2 FTB

Greetings,

Cherished last moments of motorbiking
freedom for FTB before BABETTE arrives....PC...enjoy it cos that bikewill go into semi - retirement shortly....

This weekend we also dined at RED LANTERN for an early birthday celebration with Jenn and Nadine...every yr the three of us celebrate our birthdays together which I am sure will continue in tradition in the years to come. We managed to have a brush with celebritism...ie Chef Mark Jensen came out and took a picture with us...the food was excellent!

Also, on Sunday PC and I took part in Kei's Kitchen Kaiseki Cooking class which was totally awesome. Here are some pics we took with Kei..

Babette
is getting her early feed of assorted meals and we are trying to get out as much as possible before we go into late nite feeds and deprived sleep days..

Had a great weekend and look foward to more feasting over the next 5 weeks or so.....

XOXOXO

Week 34 - Shes real in Black and White

Quick update,
Thought today deserved a BLOG entry. Came back from my fortnightly visit to OB - all appears well , however was still concerned a little on BABETTE'S size. So, to put our minds at ease, OB said lets do a scan.

So - here are the results!
Facial Frontal

Side Profile
She's progressing well weighing currently at 2 kgs. Further speculation from Sonographer advises possible due date is in fact approximately 1 week later than expected. So - will reconfirm with OB in a fortnight.

Either way - things are progressing well - got the airconditiong unit installed in nursery so one less thing to worry abt.

Week 33 Part 2 - Snack Run

Hi de ho!

Another snippet in the countdown to Babette's arrival, have not slept well at all this week.
About 3 nights ago I sent Paul down for a snack-run around 12.30 AM...he was semi-conscious when I said"Honey..can you get me some of those balls I made....the cornbeef ones.."....as he staggered down the stairs , he was quick and back in a flash ...in his hands he had 2 Crochet balls !!! I replied "What am I gonna do with those!!! I can't eat those!!!! ...I was in stitches with laughter for a good 5 minutes clutching baby belly. He soon arrived back with the infamous "Nana's Cheese Puffs" (courtesy of the Flannery's) all nice and heated.

He explains later, as I am suffering from Carpal tunnel , he thought I was going to use them as stress balls to clench with...yeh yeh....he just thinks I'm getting tooo fat!!!

Here are those lovely cheese puffs:

This week we also celebrated Paul's Birthday at "The Boathouse on Black Wattle Bay".
Had some gorgeous oysters and snapper pie..followed by scrumptious Apple Tart.
Here are some pics to make you drool.....
We will have a second celebration with Damo to celebrate his B'day also...gearing up for Chilli Crab!! Can't wait..will post more pics.

XOXOXO
